We’re more than just a building – we’re a community with something for everyone

Bringing Film to the Heart of Strouden Park

The Community Cinema Club We Hope to Launch Later This Year.

There’s something special about watching a film together. The lights dim, the room quietens, and for a couple of hours we’re all sharing the same story. That sense of togetherness is exactly why Strouden Park Community Association is working towards launching a Community Cinema Club later this year.

Why a Community Cinema?

Not everyone can easily get to a commercial cinema, and not everyone wants to. A community cinema offers something different: a friendly, local, affordable space where people of all ages can enjoy films together. It’s a chance to bring neighbours together, reduce isolation, and create a regular social event that feels welcoming and accessible.

We’ve heard from residents who would love:

  • family‑friendly screenings during school holidays
  • classic films and musicals for older audiences
  • relaxed screenings for people who prefer a gentler environment
  • themed nights, from comedies to documentaries
  • opportunities to meet others and chat over refreshments

The Cinema Club will help us deliver all of this in a way that reflects the spirit of Strouden Park—warm, inclusive, and community‑led.

What We’re Working On

We’re currently exploring equipment options, licensing requirements, and the best layout for the hall to make sure the experience is comfortable and enjoyable. We’re also speaking with local businesses about sponsorship opportunities to help keep ticket prices low.

The plan is to start with monthly screenings and build from there, shaped by what the community tells us they want to see.

How You Can Get Involved

We’ll be looking for volunteers to help with:

  • setting up the hall
  • welcoming guests
  • running the refreshments table
  • choosing films
  • promoting screenings

If you’d like to be part of the Cinema Club team, we’d love to hear from you. This project will only succeed if it’s shaped by the people who will enjoy it.

A New Way to Bring People Together

The Community Cinema Club is more than a film night—it’s a chance to create shared experiences, spark conversations, and build connections across generations. We’re excited to bring this to Strouden Park and will share updates as the project develops.
