How We Help Community Activities Thrive.
Every week, Strouden Park Community Centre opens its doors to a wide range of local groups—from fitness classes and craft clubs to support groups, children’s activities, and social meet‑ups. These groups are the heartbeat of the Centre, and supporting them is one of the most important things we do.
A Home for Community Activity
Many local groups simply need a safe, affordable, well‑run space to bring people together. We provide that home. Our rooms are used for everything from yoga and dance to parent‑and‑toddler sessions, community meetings, and specialist workshops.
But our role goes beyond room hire. We work closely with group leaders to help them succeed, offering:
- clear, accessible information about facilities and availability
- support with promotion through our noticeboards, website, and social media
- practical help with logistics, equipment, and accessibility
- a friendly point of contact for questions and problem‑solving
- a welcoming environment where participants feel comfortable and included
Why This Matters
- Local groups are often run by volunteers or small organisations with limited resources. By providing reliable support and a well‑managed space, we help them focus on what they do best—bringing people together, improving wellbeing, and strengthening community life.
- These groups also play a vital role in reducing loneliness, supporting physical and mental health, and creating opportunities for people to learn new skills or simply enjoy time with others.
- Celebrating the Groups Who Make the Centre Come Alive
- We’re proud to host such a diverse mix of activities, and we’re always excited to welcome new groups. Whether someone wants to start a new hobby club, run a fitness class, or launch a support group, we’re here to help them get off the ground.
- If you run a local group—or are thinking about starting one—please get in touch. We’d be delighted to talk through what you need and how we can support you.
- Building a Stronger Community Together
- Strouden Park Community Centre exists for the benefit of local residents, and the groups who use our space are a huge part of that mission. By supporting them, we help create a more connected, active, and resilient community.
